An imperfect smile with missing teeth is not aesthetic. The most up-to-date method for tooth replacement is implantation. It is no surprise that this operation is more and more popular since it gives a long term, final solution to missing teeth and an aesthetic appearance.

Dental implants are titanium screws that are applied to the jaw bones. Due to their usability of carriers of the dentures the dental implants adopt the function of artificial tooth roots. In so doing they are generally screwed (thank to their screw thread) into the jaw bone (enossal implants) or they are simply plugged in. They connect within 3 to 6 months with the surrounding bones to a tight, utterly stable carrier unit.

What is an implant?

Implants are artificial tooth-roots which are surgically palaced into the alveolar bone. This has been a practised and successful procedure fordecades. The implant mostly made ofof titanium that is marked of an extraordinarily high acceptance of tissue and thus enables the bony adhesion between the implant and the bone possible.  The implant causes, as has been proved, no malignant changes in the organism.

Procedure

  1. Implant: Under local anesthesia the implantation spot is exposed by a cut through the gingiva. After pre-boring, the implant is inserted into the bone and the gingiva is again closed over the implant by stitches. The suture has to be removed after approximately 7 days.
  2. Healing period: 3-6 months; in few special cases, immediate loading (crowning) may be possible.
  3. Exposure and gingiva formation: the implant is exposed through a small cut and a healing screw is placed into the implant.
  4. Formation: The healing screw is exchanged by an abutment and the dental technical impression is made. The dental technician then produces the particular crown, denture corresponding to this impression.
  5. Fitting: the crown or bridge is fixed to the implant.

If someone needs bone augmentation this might mean one more occasion.  The implants are made of titanium which is a bio-compatible material. Once the dental implant has successfully integrated with the bone, with good health, should last an entire lifetime. We give lifetime warranty for dental implants (not for osseointegration).

Who can have implants?

Everyone who can maintain a good oral hygiene and when no further contraindicationsare present.. The osseointegration success rate is about 97 percent.There are several factors that are decisive for the success of an implantation; smoking, osteoporosis,diabetes, severe cardiovascular diseases increase the risk of failure in case of implantations; at patients under 18 years or pregnant women the implantation is not recommended;

What kinds of implantats are available?

Our clinic works with several types of implants, your dentist will help you to come to the best solution. Any dental or gingival problems should be rectified before the procedure, so the operation will be carried out in clean mouth thus ensuring the optimal conditions for healing.

Instant implant

The implant is inserted in the extraction socketimmediately after the extraction. (for this purpose the alveole has to be infection-free, Common implant

At this  you need to wait at least 3-6 months after the extraction until there isbone to place the implant into.. This is the far more frequent and successful method that which is applied in practise.

What can be done in case you do not have enough bone?

If the existing bone is not sufficient for  implantation, a bone reconstruction or a substitute can be made. For the implantation a volume of 6*5*10 cubic mm of bone is at least necessary to place the implant into. If the existing bone supply is not enough, a bone augmentation can take place by sterile artificial substances, or autograft (own-bone).

A very common bone augmentation is called a sinus lift. This is the procedure to replace bone in the posterior upper jaw area under the maxillary sinus.

Whether the implantation can simultaneously take place with the bone construction, depends on the anatomic situationand can only be decided by the surgeon. In case of very insufficient bone supply the bone construction has to take place at first, andthe implant can be applied after only 6-8 months.

Aftercare

After the production of the dentures an optimal oralhygiene is required. Furthermore check ups are indispensable, here radiographs are made in order to test the condition of the implants and a professional dental hygiene can be accomplished when needed.

In order to have a lifetime result it is inevitable to have appropriate oral hygiene and to be presented at semi-annual check up.

Our clinic offers 5% discount on treatment plans including implants with a total value of 5000 Eur or above, and 10% discount on treatment plans with a value of 10.000 Eur or above. If the total amount of the treatment is paid in cash an additional 3% discount will be given.
