Advanced Gum Disease, Unsalvageable Teeth –
The Solution: All‑on‑4®
The Dental Problem
Periodontitis, also known as gum disease, is a common condition affecting many adults worldwide. This chronic inflammation can significantly weaken the structures that anchor the teeth, leading to their potential loss. Moreover, recent research shows it may contribute to other health issues, such as cardiovascular diseases, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease. Good oral hygiene is crucial in preventing periodontitis.
Our 58-year-old patient from Norway had been dealing with gum disease for a long time. The prolonged inflammation had made his teeth so loose that they were beyond repair.
Solution
For his smile rehabilitation, we chose the All-on-4® implantation method, renowned for its speed, effectiveness, and gentle approach. In a single surgery, we removed the loose teeth and installed four Nobel Biocare implants per jawbone. Within a few days, we attached a customised temporary denture to the implants. The patient returned six months later to receive the permanent restoration made of innovative zirconium, a material with numerous advantages.
Result
The temporary fixed restoration already significantly affected our patient’s daily life, improving his ability to bite and chew and enhancing his smile and overall appearance. The permanent zirconium denture provides a comprehensive replacement for natural teeth in every aspect.
